Description
Summary:
Can't set params for DMA on APL with PCM512x.
This issue cannot be reproduced with the same kernel & topology, and the firmware on Dec. 7, so it seems to be a firmware regression.

This issue can be reproduced if sof-acce7428 was used, but sof-be45dacd worked fine.
So it seems that sof-acce7428 caused this firmware regression.

@markyang
From the log here
[ 4.128007] sof-audio sof-audio: error: have no window infoThe FW boot is failed due to no mem window info. Changed the issue title.
Root caused to be #657 changed IPC ready structure size make mismatch between kernel and fw.

This issue also can be reproduced on GLK.

@markyang, what is the evidence that suggest you this commit is the reason for the issue?
I had a short teleconference today with Jocelyn and one of her engineer. During this meeting we agreed that the issue doesn't mach in any way to the changes done in commit #657 for two main reasons. The issue is only observed when a lot of IPC messeges is being exchenged. Second it was observed at least a week before that commit has been merged.

@mrajwa some misunderstanding here :( the issue I talked in the meeting is thesofproject/linux#370.
mengdonglin commentedon Dec 12, 2018
@mrajwa,
Your commit acce742
introduced an ABI chnage. It's recommended to use 1 of the reserved 4 uint32_t for the new flag "gdb_enabled".
In src/include/uapi/ipc/info.h
/* FW ready Message - sent by firmware when boot has completed */
struct sof_ipc_fw_ready { struct sof_ipc_fw_ready {
...
uint32_t gdb_enabled;
} attribute((packed)); } attribute((packed));

@mrajwa, I've tested both firmwares built by the two commits(
be45dacdandacce7428) below with the same kernel and the same topology. The former(be45dacd) worked fine, but the latter(acce7428) did not work. BTW, This is the first time to test your commitacce7428, which was merged on Dec 7.mengdonglin commentedon Dec 14, 2018
@markyang SOF has merged the fix f28d3fb
Could you help to verify this solution for this issue and its duplicate #694?
keqiaozhang commentedon Dec 17, 2018
This issue is gone on GLK, logger trace works well on GLK.
