[BUG] No internal audio on ASUS Vivobook S14 D3407GA #11142

Closed as duplicate

Description

@Sophusticated

Summary

No internal speaker/mic output on ASUS Vivobook S14 D3407GA (AMD ACP7.0

  • RT721 SoundWire). The ACP PCI device is claimed by the legacy
    snd_pci_ps driver instead of SOF, so no machine driver binds and only
    HDMI audio is available. Please add ACP7.0 SOF routing + a machine
    quirk for this board.

System

  • Machine: ASUS Vivobook S14 D3407GA (DMI board_name: M3407GA)
  • BIOS: 301, 2025/12/12
  • OS: Ubuntu 26.04, kernel 7.0.0-29-generic

Symptom

  • aplay -l shows only HDMI (HD-Audio Generic); no analog card.
  • PipeWire reports Dummy Output.

Findings

  • ACP7.0 coprocessor at 0000:03:00.5 [1022:15e2] is claimed by the
    legacy driver:
    snd_pci_ps 0000:03:00.5: enabling device (0000 -> 0002)
  • RT721 enumerates correctly on the SoundWire bus:
    /sys/bus/soundwire/devices/sdw:0:1:025d:0721:01
  • No SOF or ASoC machine-driver messages appear in the boot log at all
    (not even a "No matching ASoC machine driver found" warning) — SOF
    never claims the device, so the machine-driver stage is never reached.
  • No runtime module parameter exists on snd_sof_amd_acp70 /
    snd_sof_amd_acp to force SOF onto this device (only enable_fw_debug).

Works on Windows

Internal speakers/mic work on Windows (BIOS 301) via the Realtek
SoundWire driver, so the hardware and firmware are functional .

I should be able to find speaker topology through windows on request.
