The SOF firmware and topology files are not distributed via linux-firmware. To help debugging cases where correct firmware is not installed, print a pointer to the official upstream repository for Sound Open Firmware firmware binaries. See disucssion in thesofproject/sof#3665 ... in some distros (Fedora, Ubuntu) things are managed ok, but we have reports from people using other distros and/or building upstream distros and running them on older distributions. The fact that kernel requires FW that is not distributed via linux-firmware.git is surprising people and we'd want to bridge this information gap. This PS is a candidate mitigation to this problem. The other option is to push fw+tplg to linux-firmware.git. |
