[BUG] Lenovo Yoga 7 2-in-1 16IPH11 (83TE, Panther Lake): no SoundWire machine driver match for rt721 + rt1320 on link 3, no UCM, rt1320 without DSP FW / calibration #5943
Summary
Internal speakers and DMIC are not usable out of the box. GNOME shows only the headphone jack ("stereo-fallback") and no input source. The hardware itself works: with manual workarounds (see below) speakers, headphones, DMIC and headset jack all function.
1. No SoundWire machine driver match
sof-audio-pci-intel-ptl 0000:00:1f.3: No SoundWire machine driver found for the ACPI-reported configuration:
sof-audio-pci-intel-ptl 0000:00:1f.3: link 3 mfg_id 0x025d part_id 0x0721 version 0x3
sof-audio-pci-intel-ptl 0000:00:1f.3: link 3 mfg_id 0x025d part_id 0x1320 version 0x3
sof-audio-pci-intel-ptl 0000:00:1f.3: Use SoundWire default machine driver with function topologies
The fallback works: firmware 2.14.1.1 boots, function topologies load (sof-sdca-jack-id0, sof-sdca-1amp-id2, sof-ptl-dmic-4ch-id3, sof-hdmi-pcm5-id5), card "sof-soundwire" registers with Jack Out (0), Jack In (1), Speaker (2), HDMI (5-7), DMIC Raw (10). Topology ABI 3:29:1 vs kernel ABI 3:23:1.
2. No working UCM profile
PipeWire/ACP falls back to "stereo-fallback", which only maps Jack Out. Speaker and DMIC are not exposed; no input source at all. Manually selected "pro-audio" is reverted to "stereo-fallback" after a jack plug/unplug event.
"Dmic0 Capture Switch" (numid 69, bound to the mic-mute LED) defaults to off on all 4 channels, so the mic-mute LED stays on permanently.
"Headset Mic" pin switch defaults to off.
The RT1320 RAE/DSP update controls are never triggered, so no RAE parameters are requested (no "try to load RAE file" in dyndbg output).
3. RT1320 without DSP firmware name and calibration from ACPI
With dyndbg enabled for snd_soc_rt1320_sdw:
Speakers play, but sound very thin/tinny (no bass). linux-firmware only contains the generic patch files (rt1320-patch-code-vab/vc, rt1321-patch-code-va). Based on the driver's DMI naming, the expected RAE file would be:
realtek/rt1320/rt1320_RAE_LENOVO_83TE_LENOVO_MT_83TE_BU_idea_FM_Yoga.dat
4. Possible BIOS regression
With BIOS T7CN18WW, Fedora-Workstation-Live-44-1.7.x86_64.iso had working audio on this machine. After updating to T7CN19WW, the same live ISO only shows "Dummy Output". The old BIOS is no longer officially available, so this cannot be re-tested.
Workaround (confirmed working, survives jack events and reboot)
amixer -c 0 sset Dmic0 cap and amixer -c 0 sset 'Headset Mic' on, then alsactl store
WirePlumber rule setting api.alsa.use-acp = false for alsa_card.pci-0000_00_1f.3-platform-sof_sdw

@thesofproject/realtek Could you take a look at the UCM and rt1320 firmware issue?
