Continuing our conversation in #190, I think I agree with what you said:
I think it would be natural to have a.dot(b) adaptive but the more raw methods general_mat_mul and general_mat_vec_mul to always use their “gemm” and “gemv” algorithms respectively.
Essentially, try to be smart but offer an escape hatch for the end user.
