Maintainer List

For New Translators

To translate a page:

  1. Check that no one else has claimed your page in the checklist and comments below.
  2. Comment below with the name of the page you would like to translate. Please take only one page at a time.
  3. Clone this repo, translate your page, and submit a pull request!

Before contributing, read the glossary and style guide (once they exist) to understand how to translate various technical and React-specific terms.

Please be prompt with your translations! If you find that you can't commit anymore, let the maintainers know so they can assign the page to someone else.

For Maintainers

When someone volunteers, edit this issue with the username of the volunteer, and with the PR. Ex:

When human translation PRs are merged, mark the page as completed: [x] (@translator) #NNN.

For AI-assisted translations (translationStatus: ai-draft), keep [x] Titolo 🤖 (AI draft) #NNN even after merge — maintainer supervision is not a community editorial pass. Change to [x] (@reviewer) #NNN only after a full community revision (and remove translationStatus + <Note> from the page). See STYLE_GUIDE.md — Traduzioni assistite (AI).

Navigation and UI

We suggest to leave most of the UI translation until the end. We plan to do some invasive changes to the website folder layout and components, so postponing this until your translation is almost complete would make it easier to merge the changes from our side later. It might make sense to translate the homepage above the fold early, but leave the rest for later. As individual pages get translated, you can change the page titles in the corresponding sidebar files. Finally, when you're translating the navigation, make sure to test both desktop and mobile layouts.

When You're Ready...

After everything above is translated, add your language to deployedLanguages in Seo.tsx of the original reactjs/react.dev repository.

These API pages should ideally be translated too, but they're less urgent and can be done after the others:

    Hi @deblasis I was assigned to translate the page "Scaling Up with Reducer and Context", I opened the pr in the same hour but then I noticed several days later that you merged another pr with a translation for the same page...

    Ciao a tutti,

    quick recap of the last couple days on it.react.dev / #418.

    Big picture

    Translations were left a bit behind, I think we are all busy and therefore I made an executive decision for, I believe, the benefit of the end-users.

    I pushed hard to complete the remaining translations using AI, I reviewed and adjusted the end results to the best of my ability.
    I have added markers in the issue #418 to indicate the translations that have been completed using AI.

    Also in the corresponding pages, I display a note that invites readers to contributing/improving the translation.

    I documented the process so that any PR coming can be handled appropriately and the contribution can be attributed correctly.
    I personally don't want to take any credit for this, it just made me a bit sad to only have the time to merge the conflicts from upstream.

    In the age of AI I believe it's just irrational not to use it for low hanging fruits like this.

    For the curious, the following is how I went about it.

    Example of the workflow

    Pick a page that sat [ ] on it for months, AI translate + maintainer pass, visual parity with react.dev, merge with the draft marker. Managing State is a good illustration: the chapter is complete end-to-end now.
