Stuck at "Compiling..." #5667

Watchman: Not Found
Xcode: N/A
Android Studio: Not Found
Packages: (wanted => installed)
react: ^16.6.0 => 16.6.0
react-dom: ^16.6.0 => 16.6.0
react-scripts: 2.1.1 => 2.1.1
Steps to Reproduce
- Install Arch Linux
- Download the latest node.js, npm and yarn
- Create any app
- Launch it
- Save the file a couple of times
Expected Behavior
It should compile.
Actual Behavior
Stuck at compiling. The terminal says "Compiling...". The process has to be terminated using a tool like htop.

I notice you're using Node 11. I'm not sure if we're compatible with Node 11 yet. Maybe try using Node 10 instead.

It seems CRA already works on Node 11.0.0 I've successfully started it on my machine.

I'm having a similar issue. After 15-20 minutes of using
npm start, no changes to the code trigger compilation and the server is unresponsive (browser says This site can’t be reached). I've rolled back to node v10.0.0 as a temporary fix which has worked.wrench32 commentedon Nov 9, 2018
Updating to node 11.1, at least for me, fixed the issue.

Fixed the issue by downgrading from node 11 to 10 LTS.
