Spotted in the the Python Discord's bot:

PEPS_RSS_URL = "https://www.python.org/dev/peps/peps.rss/"

That now redirects to https://peps.python.org/peps.rss/ (with trailing slash) and is a 404.

How was it before?

Looking at the Wayback Machine, the old https://www.python.org/dev/peps/peps.rss/ (with slash) was a valid URL:

• https://web.archive.org/web/20210101142448/https://www.python.org/dev/peps/peps.rss/

Similarly, checking the results for https://www.python.org/dev/peps/peps.rss (without slash):

• https://web.archive.org/web/20210201000000*/https://www.python.org/dev/peps/peps.rss

Gives us results for https://www.python.org/dev/peps/peps.rss/ (with slash):

• https://web.archive.org/web/20210101142448/https://www.python.org/dev/peps/peps.rss/

So it looks like https://www.python.org/dev/peps/peps.rss (without) used to redirect to https://www.python.org/dev/peps/peps.rss/ (with).

What should we do now?

We should make sure that all of these redirect or serve something valid:

• https://www.python.org/dev/peps/peps.rss/
• https://www.python.org/dev/peps/peps.rss
• https://peps.python.org/peps.rss/
• https://peps.python.org/peps.rss

I suggest making sure the first three redirect to the last one.
