This issue comes up on google searches when folks haven't installed the necessary packages to run Dash.
If you find yourself here, then please visit the official installation instructions here:https://dash.plot.ly/installation
Thank you 🙇
Hello All,
The script below :
import plotly.figure_factory as ff
import numpy as np
import dash
import dash_core_components as dcc
X = np.random.rand(15, 15)
dendro = ff.create_dendrogram(X)
File "app.py", line 5, in
import dash_core_components as dcc
File "C:\Temp\Continuum\Anaconda3\lib\site-packages\dash_core_components_init_.py", line 4, in
from version import version
ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'version'
Hello All again, I update my issue. After a new installation with :
pip install dash==0.17.7 # The core dash backend
pip install dash-renderer==0.7.3 # The dash front-end
pip install dash-html-components==0.6.2 # HTML components
pip install dash-core-components==0.5.3 # Supercharged components
pip install plotly==2.0.12 # Plotly graphing library used in examples
The script generates this error message:

_components = _dash.development.component_loader.load_components(AttributeError: module 'dash' has no attribute 'development'
I feel like this is some issue where dash.ly (an older pre-release package) was getting installed through an early version of dash-renderer. This shouldn't be an issue for new package installs, but if anyone else sees this, the two comments above are the right things to try 👍 (note how pip uninstall dash.ly is included).

I followed everything that is recommended above and yet i have an error
I have the same issue and could not be resolved till now, I made sure there is no folder called dash or dash_core_components , also I have uninstalled and installed all components of dash and plotly...etc.
still same issue , also I'm wondering if dash requires internet connectivity to be imported , it worked multiple times then it was not able to start the same .py file.
You are correct - from the User Guide:
"The JavaScript and CSS bundles that are included in Dash component
libraries are hosted on the web (on the unpkg CDN) and in the Python
packages that you install."

Do you by any chance have a folder named dash or dash_core_components within the same directory as you are running your script?
