[BUG] Error when using . in dict ids #3480

Describe the bug
Trying to use dict id in a callback with a "." character in it leads to an error.
Expected behavior
It does not error.

Hi, I just hit this issue too. I see there is a PR open, @Mukller do you think you can find some time to clean up the line separator change so that it can be merged?
