Absolute Johannes factotum
- SCP-2709 (?)
- SCP-2709 is a phenomenon in a forest in Pennsylvania where, every day at sundown, animals within a specific radius become extremely agitated and vocalize loudly until sunrise. These animals will also aggressively attack any humans who enter the area, seemingly trying to drive them away. This behavior is caused by a large, insect-like creature, designated SCP-2709-1, which lives underground at the center of the affected area and preys exclusively on humans. The creature emits a chemical that causes a universal fear response in animals, making them act aggressively towards humans as a warning, especially those with a history of anxiety or trauma, who are more susceptible to the effect.
- Scold's bridle (?)
- A scold's bridle, also known as a branks or gossip's bridle, was a historical instrument of punishment used primarily on women, particularly those deemed "scolds" or "shrews," in Scotland, England, and their colonies from the 16th to 19th centuries. This device consisted of an iron muzzle and framework that enclosed the head, featuring a "bridle-bit" or "curb-plate" with a spike that pressed down on or pierced the tongue, effectively preventing the wearer from speaking, eating, or drinking. Its purpose was public humiliation and corporal punishment for offenses like gossiping, scolding, or other forms of "riotous" or "troublesome" speech, often involving parading the individual through town or displaying them in a public place.
