🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win
Make the failurePolicy documentation match the enum values.
The field documentation lists the valid values as "Fail" and "Allow". The enum on Line 202 only accepts fail and allow. A user who follows the documentation sends Fail, and the API server rejects it. The generated CRD description and kubectl explain show the incorrect values.
Update the documentation to the lowercase values. As an alternative, change the enum to PascalCase so it matches the other enums in this API, such as Enabled/Disabled and Gateway.

Kubernetes 0.36 CRD CEL cost estimation unbounded map MaxProperties per rule cost limit
💡 Result:
If you mean **Kubernetes v1.36** (rather than “0.36”): **yes—an unbounded map can make a CRD CEL rule exceed its estimated per-rule cost limit.** The estimator assumes the map could be very large when the schema gives no `maxProperties`; rules that iterate over it are especially affected. Add a suitable `maxProperties` to the map schema, and likewise bound any arrays or strings the rule processes with `maxItems` or `maxLength`. ([kubernetes.io](https://kubernetes.io/docs/tasks/extend-kubernetes/custom-resources/custom-resource-definitions/?trk=public_post_comment-text&utm_source=openai))
There are two checks: Kubernetes estimates cost when creating or updating the CRD, and it also enforces a runtime budget when evaluating rules. CRDs additionally have a combined estimated-cost budget across their rules. ([kubernetes.io](https://kubernetes.io/docs/tasks/extend-kubernetes/custom-resources/custom-resource-definitions/?trk=public_post_comment-text&utm_source=openai))
The source documents current behavior, not a version-specific change in v1.36; it doesn’t establish whether the estimator changed in that release.

Bound spec.files with MaxProperties.
spec.files has no MaxProperties, so Kubernetes propagates an unbounded cardinality into CEL cost estimation. The all rule is then multiplied by the request-size-based worst-case execution count. This can exceed the 10,000,000 per-expression limit and cause the API server to reject a CRD generated from this type.
Add a finite MaxProperties value that matches the supported number of data files. The size(k) <= 253 predicate does not create a schema cardinality bound.
