I'm not sure how to proceed with this since we need a wrapping div.

Basically

<div class="whatever-name-we-decide">THE MARKDOWN TABLE</div>

and

.whatever-name-we-decide { overflow: auto; }

With the above, the tables won't overflow the screen when they don't fit.
