Tornado 5.0 not supported (unexpected keyword argument 'io_loop') #19

Closed

Description

@TimSC

Tornado 3 and 4 works ok. Tornado 5 server.py fails with:

Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "server.py", line 8, in <module>
	server.listen(msgpackrpc.Address("localhost", 18800))
  File "/usr/local/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/msgpackrpc/server.py", line 24, in listen
	listener.listen(self)
  File "/usr/local/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/msgpackrpc/transport/tcp.py", line 170, in listen
	self._mp_server = MessagePackServer(self, io_loop=self._server._loop._ioloop, encodings=self._encodings)
  File "/usr/local/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/msgpackrpc/transport/tcp.py", line 157, in __init__
	tcpserver.TCPServer.__init__(self, io_loop=io_loop)
TypeError: __init__() got an unexpected keyword argument 'io_loop'

Unfortunately pip defaults to version 5. Suggest we get pip to install 4.5.3 until version 5 is supported.

    Would like to +1 here for the fix. Many of our users are also reporting this issue now: microsoft/AirSim#873

    Sorry for the delay. Jut released v0.4.1 with 8fcef9b change.
    Could you check v0.4.1?

    @repeatedly v0.4.1 works in the sense that it downgrades tornado to a compatible version. Definitely good for people who don't need a specific version of tornado.

    @sanketdiwale

    Jupyter notebook requires the latest versions of tornado > 6 and I am having a difficult time resolving the dependency conflict due to msg-rpc-python requiring tornado <5. I can only use/install msg-rpc-python or jupyter-notebook in one python environment, not both currently. It would be nice to be able to use jupyter alongside libraries that do need msg-rpc-python.

    Could you release an update to fix this issue or suggest a older version of jupyter and ipykernel that would be compatible? I'm ok with using any python >3.10
