use more vertical space in browser window -- feature request #6

Open

Description

@astruck

People with larger displays (resp. higher resolution) would like to have your GUI and the etherpad frame automatically use the available vertical space in a browser window.

    So, the resizing feature of the pad is not enough?
    What would you suggest?

    Resizing every pad I have to work on every time I open the application turns out to be a tedious task.
    Web browsers tell web applications many things about their environment [1]. My hope was that your application could get an idea of how big my screen is and make a good guess on what a reasonable vertical size of the pad frame would be.
    To be more specific: I personally do not use full screen mode in Desktop apps, so I have a menu bar on my screen and in my browser I do have tabs, my address bar and my bookmarks bar visible. That and the header of your app would need to be subtracted from the vertical dimension guess. I do not care for the footer of your app, I would not mind if that was pushed outside the screen, so that I can scroll down to it if I want to see it. I do not care for the header either because it steals screen real estate but I understand that CI rules may have to be followed here. I'll open another enhancement suggestion regarding the header.

    Thank you for your consideration.
