   Before we do this, I'd like to understand the need for such a thing?

   Why do you need to see what changed? Other languages or IDEs don't provide such a feature.
   If you want you could run the yapf or autopep8 tool on the command line to get the diff.

   I'd rather file a request to vscode to implement change margin display like big VS. This way it would work for everyone.
