Do not be sensitive to lacking a trailing slash for e.g. python.autoComplete.extraPaths #521

Description

@luanft

I'm using VS Code on a network drive. Everything is working well. The only problem is extra paths for autocomplete works well on local drive, but it doesn't on network drive.(I'm using map network drive of window to create Z:// drive)
Here is the config file:

// Place your settings in this file to overwrite the default settings
{
    "window.zoomLevel": 0,
    "editor.insertSpaces": true,
    "workbench.colorTheme": "Default Dark+",
    "editor.formatOnSave": false,
    "typescript.check.npmIsInstalled": false,
    //"python.formatting.provider": "autopep8",
    "typescript.npm": "C:/Program Files/nodejs/npm.cmd",
    "python.autoComplete.extraPaths": [
        "Z:\\proj\\python\\lib\\mchp",
        "Z:\\proj\\python\\lib\\mchp\\kits",
        "Z:\\proj\\python\\lib\\mchp\\util",
        "Z:\\proj\\python\\sites\\ipmsys"
    ],
    "python.pythonPath": "C:/Python/python.exe"
}

Thank you for your excellent editor!

    Could you try using forward slash? I see that local paths are using / and network paths are with \

    I tried using '/' first, but it didn't work. After that I tried using '' but it didn't work too.

    Please could you provide the output of:

    • Python output window (View-> Output menu, then select Python from the dropdown)
    • console window (Help->Toggle Developer Tools, then go into the console tab)

    Would like to check if there are any errors logged in there.

    Don Jayamanne (@DonJayamanne) , There is any option to monitor which module was loaded, which not? Or there is any API to load modules manually in developer mode?

    There's no need. just remove the trailing / and check whether it works or not.

    Don Jayamanne (@DonJayamanne) it does not work for me. I have found the source code to load modules in extraPaths. I will debug and find out the reason soon. I'm so busy these days.

    I also can't replicate on Windows 10.

    Tran Minh Luan (@luanft) if you manage to figure out how to consistently trigger it then let us know, but as of right now we can't figure out how to trigger to attempt to fix it.
