unable to turn off jedi/intellicode #4063

Closed

Description

@stevenlis

Environment data

  • VS Code version: 1.30.2
  • Extension version: 2018.12.1
  • OS and version: Windows 10
  • Python version 3.6.6\Anaconda

My autocomplete was kind of not working or slow with the following setting:

"python.jediEnabled": false,
"vsintellicode.python.completionsEnabled": true

I change them to

"python.jediEnabled": true,
"vsintellicode.python.completionsEnabled": true

Got the following notification:

This was solved by the following setting:

"python.jediEnabled": true,
"vsintellicode.python.completionsEnabled": false

After that, I was curious how intellicode and Jedi perform differently. I tried to set both of them off.

"python.jediEnabled": false,
"vsintellicode.python.completionsEnabled": false

but I still got suggestions like the following:

I also retired my original setting as well as only left jedi on, and both were working and gave me some suggrestions like above. Now I'm confused. where do I get those autocomplete and suggrestion and docs from?

I'm sorry that. It seems that the problems have something to do with my own understanding of the difference between IntelliSense, IntelliCode, and Jedi. The IntelliCode is running smoothly now after I changed my settings back to the original.
However, it is still unstable and stopped working after a while as I no longer got any suggestion while using pandas
