It would be great to add a javaclass bytecode debugging feature. For now you can only debug a java files, using source lines information. But in case of a class files debugging it's not applicable.
Hi Vladimir Kononovich (@lab313ru), I'm an AI Support assistant here to help with your issue. While the team reviews your request, I wanted to provide some possible tips and documentation that might help you in the meantime.
Suggestion
At present the VS Code Java Debugger only supports source-level debugging, so setting breakpoints directly in bytecode isn’t available. As a workaround:
Install the Java Decompiler extension to convert .class files back into Java source and then set breakpoints in the decompiled code.
The team will respond to your issue shortly. I hope these suggestions are helpful in the meantime. If this comment helped you, please give it a 👍. If the suggestion was not helpful or incorrect, please give it a 👎. Your feedback helps us improve!
