Failed to launch debuggee in integratedTerminal. Reason: com.sun.jdi.connect.TransportTimeoutException #474
I've been trying to run the Java debugger in my windows machine using WSL but have never been able to using the integratedTerminal. Is this something that's expected? Am I only able to use internalConsole?
It works for me to run with integrated terminal in WSL. Looks like it uses wrong rule & to concate the command lines in terminal. Did you try the latest VS Code version?
Hi miguel (@hellotheresoria), I'm an AI Support assistant here to help with your issue. While the team reviews your request, I wanted to provide some possible tips and documentation that might help you in the meantime.
Suggestions:
Use the debug console instead of the integrated terminal when on Windows + WSL. In your launch.json add:
"console": "internalConsole"
or set in your VS Code settings:
"java.debug.settings.console": "internalConsole"
This avoids passing Windows paths to a Bash shell.
If you need an interactive terminal in WSL, open your project in a Remote – WSL window (install the Remote – WSL extension). That way the debuggee will launch natively in WSL.
The team will respond to your issue shortly. I hope these suggestions are helpful in the meantime. If this comment helped you, please give it a 👍. If the suggestion was not helpful or incorrect, please give it a 👎. Your feedback helps us improve!
