If you wait long enough, does the status bar message about "Initializing" disappear? If so, does autocomplete then work?

If initializing seems never to finish, are you able to test with Insiders build?

I'm not sure what insiders build is. But when i command click a variable for definition, the blue loader at the top just keeps going and never stops, and there is no status bar message about initializing. The client just does nothing no matter how long i wait

I'm working on this specific project with a few other people, and everyone has this issue with this specific project only. Every now and then if we close and reopen vscode it will show some signs of autocompleting but after 5-10mins in the project, the autocomplete never shows up again.

You can get Insiders at https://code.visualstudio.com/insiders/ and install it side by side with the regular release.

Also please try upgrading your workspace to use typescript@next by installing this extension.

If you still see the problem after installing that extension and restarting VS Code, can you please provide more information about your project? Number of JS/TS files for example? With the project open in VS Code, run code-insiders --status from the command line to get this info
