I make tutorials, interactive examples, and tools for people who like learning how things work. You can find my articles and demos at kirupa.com, and join the conversation on the kirupa forum.
This repository is the public playground for many of those tutorials. It has standalone HTML, CSS, and JavaScript examples, data structures and algorithms, React projects, animation experiments, reusable utilities, and a native iOS webview sample.
The latest tutorial examples explore how a character moves through a grid, avoids obstacles, and finds a path to a destination:
- Grid movement with obstacles introduces movement around blocked cells.
- Breadth-first search (BFS) finds the shortest path on an unweighted grid. There is a starter example and a completed example.
- Dijkstra's algorithm handles weighted grid navigation. It also has a starter example and a completed example.
The October updates added these examples and refreshed their grid styling and artwork. The Dijkstra examples now include hamburgers and a rocket destination, along with improvements to the end-of-walk status display. The stack example also received a correction to its last-item console output.
| Project | What it does and what's changed |
|---|---|
| Humanish | A Markdown-based writing app for macOS, iPhone and iPad, and the browser. The editor was recently renamed to Humanish, and the web version moved to kirupa.com/humanish. Recent work improves the AI critique and revision loop, comment navigation, window sizing, and Markdown editing behavior. The iOS build is newer and still has some feature gaps. |
| KONVO | An agent skill for writing and revising technical explanations while keeping the author's voice and judgment. Recent updates add structured critiques, conversational editorial review, learning from the author's revisions, and correctness checks. The latest guidance uses patterns measured in my pre-AI tutorials to make the writing clearer and more natural. |
| Forum Yappers | An AI-assisted Discourse experiment with persona-based bots, webhook replies, and scheduled topics, quizzes, coding challenges, and archive spotlights. Recent changes add a durable challenge leaderboard, improve formatting and links, and update model routing. When a model is unavailable, the bots stay quiet instead of posting canned content. |
| Architecture portfolio | A static portfolio demo with large project photography and category navigation. The latest changes add horizontal and hamburger-menu route variants. |
| Emoji Gazette | A static emoji browser with a generated Unicode dataset and category filtering. Recent work updates the visual style, card spacing, and compact flyout navigation. |
I also keep MCP server and remote MCP server collections here for reference.
The entirety of kirupa.com is stored and managed in kirupaWWW, my private repository. It is the home for the full website; this public repository contains tutorial examples and supporting code.
Because kirupaWWW is private, its contents aren't publicly accessible. The published tutorials and examples are available on kirupa.com.
- Examples for standalone browser demos and experiments.
- Data structures and algorithms for walkthroughs and visualizations.
- Animations and Creating Web Animations for motion examples.
- Canvas, math, and UI experiments.
- JavaScript and tools for shared utilities, including easing equations and random colors.
- React examples and a Swift WKWebView sample for hosting web content in a native iOS app.
