Hi there 👋

I'm Islam Magdy, founder of Ktesio, a software company in Rotterdam, and a Tech Lead at Nationale-Nederlanden. I've spent 15+ years in software and have led engineering teams since 2015.

At Ktesio I build open-source tools for the AI agents people run, and I take on scoped engineering work on agentic AI and platforms.

Open source

  • Hekma: a control plane for agent workloads, written in Rust. It supervises the agents you run, meters each run's real token use and enforces budgets the moment they're crossed. Runs and Policies are being built in the open. hekma.ktesio.dev · cargo install hekma · Apache-2.0

  • bite: Apple's own apps (Calendar, Reminders, Mail, Notes, Contacts and Messages) as MCP tools for AI agents, each with a matching CLI verb. A Rust MCP server with a native Swift helper, and no network calls of its own. cargo install bite-mcp · MIT

At Nationale-Nederlanden

Tech Lead in the mortgage domain since 2022, separate from Ktesio:

  • Bringing agentic AI into how the bank delivers software, including Atlas, an internal agentic CLI for PR review and backlog work that grew from one team to teams across NN Group.
  • Modernizing mortgage servicing: live components moved from Java to serverless Node.js on AWS, and an event-driven loan-redemption flow built into notaries' own systems.

Before that

  • E-commerce and mobile (VNGRS): serverless backends and React storefronts for Majid Al Futtaim (the Mall of the Emirates and City Centres apps, Smart Parking), Al Tayer (Mamas & Papas, Gap) and Ounass, and the foundations of WhatsNeu's move off Shopify.
  • Earlier: Technical Lead at Sheenvalue and SkyKode, and co-founder of Hataxi, a ride-hailing startup in Cairo.
