Issue
A form field element on the GitHub repository page (https://github.com/github/copilot.vim) is missing both id and name attributes. This prevents the browser from correctly autofilling the form.
Impact
- Autofill Failure: Browser autofill functionality may not work properly without these attributes
- Accessibility Concern: Screen readers and form validation tools may not correctly identify the form field
- Best Practice: Even with an
autocomplete attribute present, id or name is still recommended for proper form handling
Root Cause
Form input elements require either:
- An
id attribute (unique element identifier), OR
- A
name attribute (form submission identifier)
Without at least one of these, browsers cannot properly associate form data with the field.
Solution
Add a unique id and/or name attribute to the problematic form field element(s).
Example Fix
<!-- ❌ Before (Missing id/name) -->
<input type="text" placeholder="Search..." autocomplete="off">
<!-- ✅ After (With id and name) -->
<input type="text" id="search-input" name="search" placeholder="Search..." autocomplete="off">

Steps to Reproduce
- Navigate to https://github.com/github/copilot.vim
- Open browser DevTools (F12)
- Search for
<input> elements without id or name attributes
- Attempt autofill on identified field(s) — autofill will not work
Expected Behavior
All form input elements should have at least one unique identifier (id or name) to enable proper browser autofill, accessibility tool support, and form submission handling.
Actual Behavior
Form fields are missing these attributes, causing autofill failures and reduced accessibility.
Note: This is a web accessibility/standards compliance issue for the GitHub repository web UI, not the copilot.vim plugin code itself.
