When the GitHub Copilot App starts it's overflowing the horizontal screen siz... #5512
When the GitHub Copilot App starts it's overflowing the horizontal screen size quite significally. This happens on each fresh start or restart after applying updates.
Thanks for reporting the repeated startup overflow. Please share your display resolution and macOS scaling setting, whether you use multiple displays (and which one the app opens on), and whether the window was maximized or manually resized before the previous quit. A cropped screenshot showing the app window relative to the display would also help; please redact private content.
#5057 reports a similar oversized restored window on a Retina display with an external monitor. We are leaving this report open until we can confirm whether the display setup and failure match, rather than assuming they are the same bug.
Thank you for coming back to me so quickly. The linked issue looks very similar.
I have two displays, one 14" MBP and an external Dell 24" screen.
My external Dell screen is running at 1920 x 1080
My MBP is running 1512 x 982
I will manually resize the app, it's not often running full screen.
I primarily use the GitHub Copilot app on my MBP, so I will close and open it on this screen.
However, I just noticed it makes a difference which screen is the default (the one with the macOS task bar).
I.e. I start the app from the taskbar on the Dell "main" display, this screens resolution affects the app, even though the app is on the other screen.
In other words, you are correct that this is a dynamic scaling issue. I.e. the Copilot app will open in the same dimensions it had when I closed it, IF the task bar I start the app from is on the same screen I expect the app to open on.
When I restart the app on the MBP screen, with the task bar on my Dell screen, I see these settings: % more .window-state.json { "main": { "width": 2510, "height": 1898, "x": -2694, "y": 1070, "prev_x": -2696, "prev_y": 1070, "maximized": false, "visible": true, "decorated": true, "fullscreen": false } }
However, when I move the task bar to the MBP, this is now the main screen, I get a correctly scaled window. { "main": { "width": 1280, "height": 860, "x": 640, "y": 131, "prev_x": 641, "prev_y": 131, "maximized": false, "visible": true, "decorated": true, "fullscreen": false } }
Happy to upload some screenshots if you still this is helpful.
