There is some areas for improvements for the storage usage of ev-node.
Currently all data is saved forever, but after pruning (#2984) node operators will be able to keep the latest X blocks.
However, we can still improve the storage utilization for users that do not want to prune their nodes.
Currently, we are store for each height a state entry on the ev-node store and an execution metadata entry on the ev-node/execution/evm store. Those indexed entries are solely used for disaster recovery (replays and rollbacks).
We do not need to keep the whole state history indexed for those. In reality you should replay at most a few thousands of blocks and rollback at most a few blocks.
IMHO we should add this as a setting, in order to keep the possibility to rollback or replay the whole history.
Maybe using a setting similar to PruningKeepRecent.
