I was looking into supporting pandas 3.0.0 on Ibis, and the first thing I had to do was comment out the databricks-sql-connector dependency. FWIW this package seems to be the only connector we support (across 20+ backends) that actively disallows pandas 3.0.0.
For folks watching this issue — I've opened #768 to relax the pandas upper bound from <2.4.0 to <4.0.0, which allows pandas 3.x.
The PR includes a new test suite (tests/unit/test_pandas_compatibility.py) validating _convert_arrow_table against pandas 3's behavioral changes. All tests pass on both pandas 2.3.3 and pandas 3.0.2.
Reviews welcome.
