I'm getting the identical bug on Firefox and Chrome on a mid-2011 iMac. Trace.gl seems to run and UI seems to be responsive (colors, popups, etc.) but no text shows anywhere. Let me know if you'd like me to try something different.
Hey guys, its a problem with ATI videocards and how i render text. I'm still trying to find a working work-around. Already needed to add a pretty ugly hack to get it to render something, but still investigating
I Still don't have an actual machine at my disposal that has this problem, so i can find a horrible hack workaround/ I've sofar exhausted changing shaders in weird ways and asking for screenshots. Its a really really nasty ATI bug.
I did narrow it down to atleast 2 problems.
on ati values can be different if you pass a single vec4 varying or 4 float varyings (thats just..... a joke)
When you finally manage to pass values through, the texture unit garbles the lookup, as you can see in the screenshot above here.
Its not that these shaders are majorly complex, they are super bare bone texture blitters. However i'm stuck till i find a machine with an ATI 57xx or 58xx or apparently also a 26xx chipset
Alright i have finally recreated the problem on a machine in front of me. The problem is that POINT sprites, a webGL feature i use to render text, are unfixably broken on a certain set of environments. Passing values from vertex to fragment shader just get garbled, and there is no hack to make it right. This will require me to rewrite the text rendering engine for traceGL pretty much from scratch to get it to work. I'll post updates here.

Instead of CSS bugs we get videocard bugs with webGL :)

i can confirm this, it works great on MacBook Pro Late 2008 (Nvidia GeForce 9600M GT) but shows no text on iMac Mid 2010 (ATI Radeon HD 5750)

i get wierd looking symbos instead of blocks on my iMac
andybryant commentedon Apr 29, 2013
Likewise - garbled symbols on 2007 iMac with ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro 256 MB, fine on 2010 MBP with NVIDIA card.

I too have garbled symbols, please hurry and fix this problem, it's pretty useless in this current state.

Same as everybody above. OSX 10.8.3, Node 0.10.5, AMD Radeon HD 6770M 1025mb.

While I can understand the issue is tricky to fix, for now it would be sensible to add a warning on the website before the checkout button.
codegl commentedon May 11, 2013
Yeah, i could make a 'see if it works' link. Although i'm now working on a rewrite of the engine that should fix these issues.

@codegl How are things going with the fix for this? TraceGL is unusable on my MacBook Pro and I'm dying to use it in my work day to day.

I am having the same problem with Macbook pro. Its a NVIDA 650M card, so not an ATI.
