[SECURITY] Remove compromised AAA Certificate Services root from CA bundle - #137
The bundled CA certificate store (chargebee/ssl/ca-certs.crt) includes the AAA Certificate Services root certificate (Comodo CA Limited). On 2026-10-20, it became public that eight eMudhra certificate private keys had leaked — six of which chain back to this root.
Browsers and operating systems revoked trust in this root between Oct 17–22, but the SDK uses its own bundled certificate store and does not pick up system-level revocations. This leaves applications using the SDK vulnerable to man-in-the-middle attacks where an attacker with a leaked key could impersonate Chargebee and capture API keys.
Fix
Removed the AAA Certificate Services root certificate from chargebee/ssl/ca-certs.crt
Impact
No disruption to Chargebee connectivity. Chargebee uses the Amazon/Starfield certificate chain (chargebee.com → Amazon RSA 2048 M01 → Amazon Root CA 1 → Starfield Services Root CA G2), which remains in the bundle and is unaffected.
Verified via openssl s_client that the updated bundle still validates chargebee.com successfully (Verify return code: 0 (ok)).
The release removes the AAA Certificate Services root from the bundled CA store. The VERSION file and chargebee/version.py now specify version 3.30.0. The changelog records the removal and its stated connection to leaked eMudhra intermediate-certificate private keys.

CA bundle and release metadata chargebee/ssl/ca-certs.crt, VERSION, chargebee/version.py, CHANGELOG.md
The CA bundle no longer includes the AAA Certificate Services root. The package version changes to 3.30.0, and the changelog describes the removal and the associated leaked private keys.
The release note may mislead users about remaining platform exposure; correct it before release.

Remove the AAA Certificate Services (Comodo CA Limited) root certificate
from the bundled CA store. Six of the leaked eMudhra intermediate certificate
keys chain back to this root. Browsers and OSes have revoked trust since
Oct 17-22 2026, but the SDK's bundled cert store was still trusting it.
Chargebee uses the Amazon/Starfield certificate chain, which is unaffected.
Bumps version to 3.30.0.

systems revoked trust in the root, and clarify that trust-store changes vary by
platform.
