No way to dismiss the Git panel when the working directory and index are clean #277

Closed

Description

@lee-dohm

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Launch Atom in the local Atom repository with no staged or unstaged changes
  2. Add a few extra blank lines at the beginning of the README
  3. Save your changes
  4. Click the "1 File" status bar widget
  5. Commit your changes

Expected: Some way to dismiss the Git panel
Actual: No discernible way to dismiss the Git panel since the "X File(s)" status bar widget is the only way to summon or dismiss the panel

    How about esc would close the panel, same as find+replace (and other packages)?

    I added

    '.git-StagingView':
      'escape': 'git:toggle-git-panel'

    to my keymap. But the focus isn't moved back to the editor after closing (like find+replace). That would be even better.

    Yes, using Esc would be the best solution and putting the focus back to the editor would be expected.
