I suspect that repro steps for this might be:

    1. Launch your terminal app of choice
    2. Create a new directory using mkdir -p ~/Source/test
    3. Change to the new directory using cd ~/Source/test
    4. Initialize a Git repository in the directory using git init
    5. Create a README file using touch README.md
    6. Launch Atom in the new repository using atom .
    7. Click the 1 file status indicator

Expected: Git interface to show up
    Actual: Nothing happens

    Is this accurate @kuychaco?

Tested using Atom v1.10.0 on Mac OS X 10.11.6.

@kuychaco I started working on this yesterday, but could use some 👀 next week sometime.

I can take a stab at this, and maybe segue into init and clone support...
