   Steps to reproduce:

   1. Check out this branch at 95554b6
   2. Split the panes so you have (at least?) two open
   3. Open the unstaged changes for the same file in at least two panes
   4. Stage a hunk / selected lines
   5. Watch the rendering blow up in both panes

   Closing and re-opening the diff results in the view shown on the left in the GIF above, until the diff is recalculated.
