Forgot password/Remember me

[themcguy]

I am just getting into yeoman and I think this is an awesome tool. Any plans to support out-of-the-box forgot password/remember me functionality?

Have a look at the roadmap for 2.0.0 (and the issues tied to that milestone), and in the meantime, there are similar solutions on npm.

Password reset is one of the topic of issue DaftMonk/modular-fs#14. I'm working on it.

Password reset and also email address confirmation mechanism are the two topic of the PR DaftMonk/modular-fs#20.

I'm seeking a way to implement a remember functionality and found this:

• with angular $cookieStoreyou just can set session cookies. No way to specifying an expire date. More in http://stackoverflow.com/questions/12624181/angularjs-how-to-set-expiration-date-for-cookie-in-angularjs;
• there is another angular module https://github.com/ivpusic/angular-cookie with allow to set expire date but there is no setand getmethod: you have to modify auth.service.jsand app.js;
• we could also switch from cookies to window.localStorage;
• or using https://github.com/gsklee/ngStorage;

I've implemented a remember me functionality in PR DaftMonk/modular-fs#21. I replaced angular-cookies with ngStorage.

so... why were these PRs not merged yet? They seem super useful? 😕

I would expect email confirmation/password reset to be a must when implementing local passwords.

Hey @remicastaing,
Thank you for implementing this. One question: why do you need to store the bearer token in the local and the session storage? The session storage preserve data only while your browser's tab is open. So I guess that the local storage should be used only. What do you think?

Cheers,
Andrej

You're welcome, @azachar. If the "remember me" box is checked on the login screen, the local storage is used. If not, it will be the session storage.

[azachar]

I see, thanks!

So is here any progress?

[TimPchelintsev]

Hi. What is the status of this feature?

[Koslun]

No progress at this point in time I believe. PR linked above is very outdated and would have to be changed quite a lot to be integrated.

Current focus is mainly being put behind getting the generator to Angular 2 but if anyone wants to suggest a PR it can probably get integrated.

Not sure if this is related or not but i wanted my users logins to be persisted if the browser was closed... I changed the following and it seemed to work, just not sure if this is the correct / good way to do it:

Added the following in client/components/auth/auth.service.js

var now = new $window.Date(),
// this will set the expiration to 6 months
 exp = new $window.Date(now.getFullYear(), now.getMonth()+6, now.getDate());

then in the var auth = i changed:

 .then(res => {
$cookies.put('token', res.data.token);

to

.then(res => {
$cookies.put('token', res.data.token,{
 expires: exp
});
