fix(serverless): call an endpoint whose path has more than one segment - #175
apps invoke could not call an endpoint whose path has more than one segment, which is the normal shape for an OpenAI-compatible server inside a container app. Two layers were in the way.
The local validator took a single segment only:
ERRO endpoint path "v1/chat/completions" is invalid: use a lowercase segment of 1-64 characters (letters, digits, hyphens)
Past that, the generated client styles a path parameter with simple escaping, so the slashes arrived as %2F and the API refused the request:
parameter "endpointPath" in path: "v1%2Fchat%2Fcompletions" is not a valid endpoint path
EndpointPath in api/serverless/openapi.yaml is the authority on both. It allows one or more lowercase segments joined by slashes up to 255 characters, and it says those slashes are sent unencoded.
What changed
endpointPathPattern is now the pattern from that schema, with its 255 character bound.
A request editor restores the separators before the request goes out. No other path parameter in this client admits a slash.
The error names the path apps endpoints reports instead of describing a single segment, and the invoke help and its generated page say the same.
A leading slash is still refused locally, with the path minus the slash as the hint.
Verified
Against a deployed container app serving v1/chat/completions on rtx-pro-6000. The released binary is refused by the validator. The patched binary resumed the app from zero and returned the server's own completion in 19 seconds.
make test, make lint and make check-go-fix are clean. The table in TestValidateEndpointPath covers nested paths, the 255 character boundary either side, an empty segment, a trailing slash and an uppercase segment.

Walkthrough
Serverless endpoint paths now support lowercase segments joined by slashes, up to 255 characters. Leading slashes remain invalid. The CLI and documentation describe the nested path format. The generated client restores encoded slash separators in request paths.

Merge Risk: Low · previous review 215b0
Nested endpoint support is mergeable with bounded follow-up. Internal-testing configurations containing encoded slashes in their base URL may reach a different route; ordinary configurations are unaffected. Exact length-boundary and client-level nested-path tests would strengthen regression protection.

The editor restores encoded slashes throughout the entire URL path, not just endpointPath. It may therefore change an intentionally escaped slash in a configured API base-path prefix.
Requests can reach a different proxy route or fail, including requests unrelated to invocation.

Review comment at @internal/api/serverless/tasks.go around lines 35 - 36:
Restrict the encoded-slash restoration around `restored` to the request’s
`endpointPath`, leaving any configured API base-path prefix unchanged. Preserve
the prefix’s original escaping so requests through a proxy base URL containing
an encoded slash retain their intended route.
Add exact 255- and 256-character cases to the length test.
The length cases use 254 and 257 characters. A limit that is off by one, such as >= 255 or a 256-character limit, still passes both cases. Adding a 255-character case that must pass and a 256-character case that must fail covers the exact limit.

Add exact boundary cases to the path-length test table: include a 255-character
path that passes and a 256-character path that fails with the existing over-255
error. Keep the surrounding 254- and 257-character cases and use the table’s
existing path-construction pattern.
Add a client-level test for nested endpoint paths.
The only nested-path test calls restoreEndpointPathSeparators directly, so it does not cover the request-editor registration at client.go:292. Removing that registration leaves every invoke test passing. The client would then send nested endpoints with encoded %2F separators, and the API rejects those with 422.
The new test can call InvokeAsync through newClient with v1/chat/completions. It should assert r.URL.EscapedPath() on the server side. r.URL.Path is decoded, so it cannot show the encoded separators.

Add a client-level nested-path test using newClient and InvokeAsync with an

URL.EscapedPath() matches the expected path with literal separators, and return
a valid accepted response so the invocation completes. This must exercise the

🟡 Changes recommended
The client-wide route editor can rewrite encoded slashes in unrelated requests and break proxy routing, while current tests do not guard against the original invocation-path regression.
This PR enables serverless apps invoke to address nested endpoint paths, including OpenAI-compatible routes, by aligning validation with the API schema and restoring URL path separators.
Changes:
Accept slash-separated lowercase paths up to 255 characters.
Add a request editor to restore encoded endpoint separators, with validation and editor tests.
Update command help and generated documentation to describe nested paths.

🟡 Changes recommended
The globally registered URL editor can rewrite route markers in the configured base URL during ordinary task-polling requests, changing non-invocation proxy routes.
…ns only (#176)
follow-up to #175, which was merged with three comments on it.
**the editor is built per call and only the two invoke operations get
it.** it was registered on the whole client, which searches every
request's path for an `/invoke-sync/` or `/invoke-async/` marker.
`invoke-sync` is itself a valid app id (`AppId`, 6 to 30 chars), so
`secrets detach invoke-sync a/b` built
`/v1/apps/invoke-sync/secrets/a%2Fb` and the editor rewrote the escaped
secret name. it is now a `reqEditor` passed from `InvokeAsync` and
`InvokeSync`, so it knows the value it is looking for, reads the decoded
`Path` to find it, and never touches a request that carries no endpoint
path. `endpointPathRoutes` is gone, and so is the base-url case copilot
raised on that pr.
**a test ties the copied rule to the spec.**
`TestEndpointPathRuleMatchesTheSpec` reads `EndpointPath` out of the
vendored `openapi.yaml` and compares the pattern and the `maxLength`.
the bug #175 fixed was a stale copy of that rule, so a spec change that
no table row covers now fails here. this is the same shape as
`TestEnvironmentFlagAppliesTheSpecsNameRule`.
**and one that drives the real client.**
`TestInvokeSendsANestedPathUnescaped` runs both operations against an
`httptest` server and asserts the path it sees. dropping the editor from
either call site fails it, which nothing covered before: the old test
called the editor function directly.
readme fixed too, it still said the path was a bare segment.
`make lint`, `make test` and `make check-go-fix` clean.
