Destinations replace the single server: HTTPS/webhook (pulso.v2 envelope, bare array or NDJSON; gzip; custom headers; bearer token; optional X-Signature HMAC-SHA256 over the body as sent), the original Pulso protocol, Home Assistant webhooks, MQTT (QoS 1, one message per type per batch) and NDJSON files in a folder the user picks. Each destination has its own durable queue and backoff, so one that is down never holds up the others. Anchors advance once a batch is on disk in every queue. The old server URL and token migrate to a "Pulso server" destination. Adds Shortcuts actions (Sync Health Data, optionally by type and date range; Backfill; Get Last Sync Status), a BGProcessingTask, and a per-destination delivery view. …ed files, resend range - /latest hints apply only when every active destination answers; the earliest timestamp per type wins and types any destination lacks get a full backfill, since the anchor is shared. - The legacy outbox folder is removed only after every batch moved, and kept when there is no migrated server. - Outbox resolves its destination per batch, so disabling it stops a running drain. - Each MQTT destination has its own client id. - File appends share one lock. - Snapshot resends honour the requested date range. - Shortcut background assertions end on expiry. - Queue to every enabled destination, configured or not, so one whose URL is mid-edit holds its batches instead of missing them; the footer says a disabled or newly added destination needs Backfill for history. - Keep REST and Home Assistant URLs exactly as typed and refuse redirects, so a 3xx can't turn into a body-less GET counted as sent. - Store custom header values in the Keychain. - Decide the destination that drives per-type counts per batch. - Resolve swipe-deleted destinations before removing any. - Never lower a queue's sequence when adopting the legacy outbox. - Decode destinations with defaults for missing fields. - Report a stale export-folder bookmark and failed folder picks. README.md:60-63
📐 Maintainability & Code Quality | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick winUpdate the "How it works" outbox description. It no longer matches the new anchor semantics.
This section still says "The anchor advances only when the server ACKs" and describes one server. After this change,
SyncEngine.syncsaves the anchor once every enabled destination's queue holds the batch on disk.OutboxHubpassesanchors: nilto eachOutbox. Each queue then deletes a batch only after its own destination accepts it. The diagram above (line 52) also shows only HTTP to one server. Readers who rely on this section to reason about data safety get the wrong model.📝 Proposed wording
-- **The outbox** writes every batch to disk *before* the first upload - attempt and deletes it only on a server 2xx. **The anchor advances only - when the server ACKs.** Crash anywhere and the worst case is a re-send, - which the server dedupes by sample uuid. +- **The outboxes** (one per enabled destination) get every batch on disk + *before* the first delivery attempt; each deletes it only once its + destination accepts it. **The anchor advances once the batch is in every + enabled destination's queue.** Crash anywhere and the worst case is a + re-send, which receivers dedupe by sample uuid.🤖 Prompt for AI Agents

- Only a destination configured at least once keeps queueing while unconfigured; one added and never set up gets nothing. - Keychain writes update in place, and header values are written only when they change; removed header rows lose their Keychain item. - The Pulso server Test refuses redirects like deliveries do and says where the server points. - Folder export works without a security scope and with a stale but resolvable bookmark; a failed folder pick shows an error. - Catch-up asks every destination that receives batches. - An unknown body format falls back to the default, and an unreadable destination entry is skipped instead of emptying the list. README outside-diff comment fixed in d57ffc2: "How it works" now shows one queue per destination, says each deletes a batch only once its own destination accepts it, and that the anchor advances once the batch is in every queue. |
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Clearing a destination's URL in the session it was added saved the in-memory copy's wasConfigured = false, so it stopped receiving batches. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
A destination that started receiving while a /latest request was in flight got batches bounded by another server's cutoff and missed older history. Hints now carry the key of the receiving set they were fetched for; an answer that arrives after the set changed is discarded, and OutboxHub refuses a date-bounded batch unless the destinations it writes to are exactly that set. The anchor isn't saved then, so the next pass re-checks. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
The catch-up key and the /latest requests read the destination list separately, so a destination toggled between the two reads could give a key naming a set that never answered. Both now come from one snapshot, passed into the latestHints closure. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

OutboxHub.enqueue read the destination list twice: an empty target list could pass a guard that re-read a deliverable destination, write nothing and let the anchor advance. The guard now uses the targets it writes to. The Sync Health Data shortcut reports a missing destination instead of the previous sync's summary. Pulso can now send to several destinations at once, run from Shortcuts, and catch up in a background processing task.
Destinations
Settings → Destinations replaces the single server URL. Each destination has its own durable queue and retry backoff, so one that is down only delays itself.
schema, batchId,type, device, items), a bare array or NDJSON. Gzip is optional. It also supports custom headers andAuthorization: Bearer, and with an HMAC secret it addsX-Signature: sha256=<hex>computed over the body as sent, after gzip.POST <base>/ingest, bare array, gzip), with the/latestcatch-up.<prefix>/<type>, and deletions go to<prefix>/deleted. Each destination uses its own client id.pulso-<date>.ndjsonin the app's folder (visible in Files) or in a folder you pick, such as one in iCloud Drive.Secrets (bearer token, HMAC secret, MQTT password) live in the Keychain per destination. The old server URL, token and queued batches migrate to a "Pulso server" destination. The old queue folder is removed only once every batch has moved.
Delivery semantics
SyncEngine writes each batch into every active destination's queue, then advances the HealthKit anchor. Previously the anchor moved on the server's ACK. With several destinations that would let one broken destination block the rest, so the anchor now moves once the data is on disk in every queue. Each queue still deletes a batch only after its destination accepts it. Disabling a destination stops its drain mid-run. The
/latestcatch-up applies only when every active destination answers it; the earliest timestamp per type wins, because the anchor is shared.Shortcuts and background
BGProcessingTask(pulso.processing) runs a full sync and drains the queues when iOS allows. Its identifier is fixed, likepulso.refresh, so re-signing with another bundle id doesn't break it.The Status screen lists per-destination queue depth, next retry and last response. README and
docs/PROTOCOL.md(v2 section) document the fork, the payload and every destination.Checks
/latestlimiting history for all, a drain that kept sending after a destination was disabled, a shared MQTT client id, concurrent appends to a shared file, snapshot resends ignoring the date range, and a background assertion without an expiry handler./ingest/pulso) accepted app-shaped envelopes with gzip, bearer and HMAC together, applied tombstones, and kept only the newest snapshot version perrecordKey. All test rows were deleted afterwards.🤖 Generated with Claude Code
