Add support for AVIF and JPEG XL image formats #987
Feature Request: AVIF and JPEG XL Image Format Support
Summary
Request to add support for modern image formats: AVIF and JPEG XL, which offer superior compression and efficiency compared to traditional formats like PNG, GIF, and JPEG.
As long as these formats behave like any other of our supported file types, this can be implemented by updating the validation.
What we can't really do is convert or compress anything, at least on the backend.
If we update the upload form we could do this client side, using js.
We could add a config option to customize the supported file types. This might make this process more streamlined. Optionally this could then also be used to enable SVG support.
If you want to use these image formats right now the system should support these already. I think in the assets/LinkStack folder look for your image, copy the file name without the extension, delete it and upload your preferred image format and rename the file to the previous file name.
You may have to restart your server for this to apply but it's worth a try if you need this file format for yourself.
