OpenHPC 4.2 ships an optional EESSI section in its install guide. It installs the CernVM-FS client on the head node and in the compute image, makes software.eessi.io available, and adds a module that exposes the EESSI software stack through the usual module commands.

The post covers what the section does, the constraints that come with it (Lmod is required, and a local Squid proxy is recommended in production), and the longer-standing connection between OpenHPC and the EasyBuild community that it grew out of.

@adrianreber Very nice write-up, easy to digest.

Some small suggestions to improve, mostly to avoid confusion w.r.t. what 4.2 refers to.

For transparency, can you mention (just as a comment in this PR, not in the blog post itself) whether any AI tooling was used for writing this, and if so which tool & LLM?

Claude Code (Claude Opus 5) using the OpenHPC documentation as starting point.

installs the CernVM-FS client on the head node and in the compute image,
makes software.eessi.io available, and adds a module that exposes the

Also add an .authors.yml entry for the author.

I tried to combine your suggestions. I did not directly reference the file like @boegel suggested but I am using the link to the documentation like @ocaisa suggested.
