I don't know how to accurately describe this wired problem, so please see the image below.

This issue only occurs when the FOV is higher than the default value. The higher the FOV, the more obvious the issue.

Enviroment:

  • 1.21.1-NeoForge_21.1.227
  • Mod List:
    • sodium-neoforge-0.6.13+mc1.21.1
    • iris-neoforge-1.8.12+mc1.21.1
    • DistantHorizons-3.0.1-b-1.21.1-fabric-neoforge
    • No other mods installed
  • ComplementaryUnbound_r5.7.1
    • Config: Border Fog disabled

Do you think it's something Complementary related? or I should report it to Distant Horizons?

Can you try resetting DH settings? I don't have this problem on my end

I created a fresh Minecraft installation and reproduced the issue.

These are all the operations I performed:

    1. install Minecraft 1.21.1 with NeoForge 21.1.227
    2. drop three mod mentioned above into mods folder
    3. drop Complementary into shaderpacks folder
    4. start game, enable Complementary in Iris
    5. create a flat world, join it, fly upwards to a height where you can clearly see the horizon, and wait for DistantHorizons to render the horizon
    6. everything works normally with default FOV
Image 7. change FOV to about 83, note the area highlighted in red box in the lower left corner. Image 8. change FOV to 100 Image

I pasted my FOV settings in the top left corner of the screenshot.
