  • I've searched existing issues and this isn't a duplicate.
  • This is a reproducible bug in Calnode — not a configuration/setup question or a feature request.

What's the bug?

I created a one time Date Overrides in my availability and when I joined the livekit video room there were no admin settings visible to me. I joined with the link auto created in my google calendar.

one thing is I also sent that link to the guest joining since he lost his link because I did not realized the link I had also had an admin token, so that may have messed things up.

Steps to reproduce

  1. create date override
  2. join livekit video room with link create din linked calendar
  3. send link to other participant
  4. no admin things appear (screenshare or settings cog)

Found it, and your own detective work points straight at it: that link you shared was the host link, and the room allows exactly one host. Sequence was almost certainly you joining as host, the guest opening your shared host link, the room handing host to them, and you getting silently demoted to attendee - cog gone, no explanation.

Fixed on main: two changes, both in the room. Joining with a host link now warns you up front to keep it to yourself (guests have their own link in the invite), and if you ever lose host mid-call, a banner names who took over instead of the controls just vanishing. Owners keep the Take host back button for exactly this accident.

So the rule going forward: host link is yours alone, guest link comes from the invite. Thanks for including the sharing detail - without it this reads as a permissions bug instead of a shared-link takeover.

@serversathome-personal the fix for this is on main (past v0.10.0 - you'll want :edge or a fresh pull). Could you try reproducing your original sequence on the fixed build?

    1. Fresh booking with a LiveKit room, join from the calendar (host) link.
    2. Open the same host link in a second browser/incognito window as the guest.
    3. The first window should now show a banner naming who took over, instead of the controls silently vanishing - and the prejoin screen warns host-link holders not to share it.

If you can't reproduce the silent control loss anymore, say so and I'll close this out. If the banner never appears or something else looks wrong, describe what you see and we'll dig further.

You can go ahead and close. I trust that you guys are able to reproduce a fix

Verified live in production: sharing the host link triggers the takeover banner instead of a silent control loss, and the prejoin screen warns host-link holders not to share. Closing as completed.
