Studio jar in the wheels: ApexCharts is no longer open source #17
Studio bundles ApexCharts, which has not been open source since 5.1.0 (ArcadeData/arcadedb#10579). Its licence lists "Embedding in a product or platform used by other people" as not allowed without a paid OEM licence. These wheels are Apache-2.0, so a wheel that carries the arcadedb-studio jar redistributes it. scripts/jar_exclusions.txt here has no Studio line, so a wheel built from the 26.10.2 image today contains arcadedb-studio-26.10.2.jar (2.88 MB, with the ApexCharts bundle inside).
We (humemai/arcadedb-embedded-python) dropped the Studio jar from our wheels in 26.10.2.post1 for this reason, and the server root then answers with a short page that says Studio is not bundled. The fix here is small: one exclusion line, scripts/verify_wheel_no_studio.py (fails a wheel that contains a Studio jar, any ApexCharts file, or a jar that carries one, so it also catches a shaded or renamed copy), a unit test for that script, a call in build.sh after the size check, and tests/test_server_packaging.py no longer requiring the Studio jar. The PR follows this issue.
ArcadeData/arcadedb#10627 moves Studio to Apache ECharts and is open. Once it is in an ArcadeDB release, the plan is to remove the exclusion and put Studio back into the wheel by default (the jar is about 2.8 MB), with no extra package. The check can then stay as an ApexCharts-only guard.
Update: ArcadeData/arcadedb#10627 (Studio draws its charts with Apache ECharts) merged as 04cfdd9693 and closed ArcadeData/arcadedb#10579, so the Studio jar of the next ArcadeDB release (26.11.1) is free of ApexCharts. Plan: keep the exclusion (#20) for wheels built on 26.10.x jars, and drop it for wheels built on 26.11.1 or newer, after checking that the 26.11.1 Studio jar contains no ApexCharts files; the wheel check in #20 can be turned around to assert that.
